Important meeting with Dar El Hanan's medical staff

Djibouti, May 2022.
In recent weeks, the CIMIC specialists have organized and coordinated a meeting between neonatology department responsible of Dar El Hanan hospital and a team of specialists from US Civil Affairs to carry out a training activity for the staff of the hospital.
The meeting opened with the hospital spokesman, Dr. Gass, who exposed the critical issues regarding medical devices, with particular reference to respirators and tools for resuscitation, and training of nursing staff, who is not qualified for emergency neonatal care so far.
The Multinational CIMIC Group operators and the staff of US Civil Affairs, moreover, were able to ascertain the particular infrastructural conditions, assessing the real needs expressed during the meeting, in order to implement interventions improving working conditions of medical staff and care for hospitalized patients. The aim is to implement the hospital's ability to manage emergencies, thus reducing the neonatal mortality rate.
The chief of Civil Affairs team thanked the CIMIC Cell for highlighting a persistent serious situation in Djiboutian territory, expressing interest in evaluating subsequent actions to support the health facility.
